Yorba Linda joining drowning prevention program

Yorba Linda Drowning Prevention

When It comes to Swimming Pool Safety Yorba Linda is stepping up and joining in to help drowning prevention awareness by supporting a Orange County swimming safety program.

According to the Orange Count Register “ The City Council has authorized a $5,000 contribution to the Orange County Task Force on Drowning Prevention, which formed last year to develop recommendations on methods and strategies to improve drowning prevention efforts in Orange County.”   The focus is meant to help reduce Orange County drownings which in 2015 “ there were 118 drowning calls in the county. Of those, 50 were fatal, according to OCFA. ”  The program will focus on ” two targets: children ages 1 to 4 and adults 50 years and older. The campaign will focus on swimming pool/spa safety where more than 60 percent of the drowning incidents occurred last year. “
